The Matrix 320 5MP captures and decodes barcodes on moving or manually presented items. Its modular construction lets you select the reader body, lens, illuminator and protective accessories around the required reading area, smallest barcode element and available mounting space.
The additional image detail is useful when several labels must be captured in one image or small codes occupy only part of a larger field of view. Resolution alone does not determine reading performance: focus, exposure, illumination and code quality must also suit the application.

Allow additional space for cable routing and mounting hardware. Rotating the connectors to 90° changes the installation envelope; check the drawing for the selected assembly.
Choose the lens using the required field of view, mounting distance and minimum barcode element size. A wider view covers more of the object but allocates fewer pixels to each barcode element. The smallest code therefore needs to be tested at the most demanding position within the reading area.
Depth of field is the distance interval over which codes remain sufficiently sharp to decode. Closing the lens aperture can increase this interval, but it also reduces captured light. On a moving conveyor, illumination and exposure must be balanced to retain detail without excessive motion blur.
The 5MP model uses manual lens focus. Its embedded distance sensor has a specified measurement range of 100–2500 mm; this is not a barcode-reading range or an autofocus specification.
The 36-LED VHP family includes white, blue, red, infrared and ultraviolet options, depending on the illuminator. The 72-LED UHP family offers white or blue illumination for applications needing greater light output. Colour, beam angle and power are configuration choices.
Polarising covers are optional accessories for managing reflections from suitable surfaces. Test them with the actual label and packaging, since reducing reflected light also affects the exposure requirement. UV illumination requires the manufacturer’s specified optical-safety measures.
Aiming also varies by illuminator: configurations include cross aiming, a dedicated grid-pattern option and dual-spot aiming on 72-LED units. Specify the required aiming method when selecting the assembly.
Supported formats include Code 128 and GS1-128, EAN/UPC, Data Matrix, QR Code, PDF417 and selected postal symbologies. Direct part marking (DPM), where the code is marked into the component surface, requires assessment of the material, marking method, contrast and lighting geometry.
A стационарен баркод скенер installation needs a clear view of each required code. Labels on opposite faces, obscured marks or positions outside the validated reading area may require additional readers or changes to object presentation.
The Matrix 320 5MP supports identification at conveyor stations, packing benches and production checkpoints. Relevant applications include:
For each application, define the expected code count and the response to a missing, duplicate or unexpected code. These rules connect barcode capture to the production or warehouse decision.
PackTrack supports assigning decoded barcode data to the corresponding moving object when multiple objects occupy the reading area. It can support shorter gaps where the conveyor layout and tracking configuration allow them.
Package spacing cannot be selected from the reader’s frame rate alone. Commissioning must account for object detection, conveyor movement, label positions, reading-zone geometry and output timing. Validate the smallest proposed gap with representative packages at the intended line speed.
DL.CODE provides Windows-based configuration, image viewing and automatic setup tools. The X-PRESS interface supports local setup and testing, while web monitoring and FTP image saving help technicians investigate reading results.
The embedded orientation sensor can detect changes in the reader’s mounting angle. Compatible illuminator assemblies provide configurable 360° status feedback and Green Spot/Red Spot indications for operator-facing stations. A fast-replacement bracket is available as an accessory or within specified kits.
During commissioning, test the smallest and lowest-contrast codes at both ends of the required working-distance range. Repeat the checks with moving items, reflective packaging and the actual ambient lighting before saving the production configuration.
Ethernet, serial communication and digital I/O provide routes for sending decoded data and read status to a PLC or host application. ID-NET supports coordinated reader arrangements where multiple views are required.
Connecting to a warehouse management system (WMS), manufacturing execution system (MES) or ERP application requires an agreed interface and data format. Define triggering, message contents, acknowledgements, duplicate handling and no-read responses with the receiving system; protocol support alone does not establish compatibility with a particular software platform.
The nearest alternative is the Datalogic Matrix 320 2MP. Compare the resolution needed for your codes with the acquisition rate and focus arrangement required by the installation.
| Фактор на подбор | Matrix 320 5MP | Matrix 320 2MP |
|---|---|---|
| Разделителна способност на изображението | 2560 × 1936 pixels | 1920 × 1080 pixels |
| Specified frame rate | 25 frames/s | 60 frames/s |
| Focus options | Manually adjusted C-Mount lenses | Electronically adjusted liquid-lens models or manually adjusted C-Mount models |
The 5MP model provides more image samples across the same framed area, which can favour smaller codes or multiple labels. The 2MP model merits consideration when its resolution is sufficient and a higher acquisition rate or electronic focus adjustment is useful. These frame rates describe image acquisition, not packages processed per second; compare both readers using equivalent code sizes, fields of view and motion conditions.
A reader-body part number does not define the complete installation. The quotation should identify the lens, illumination or external-light arrangement, adapter, covers, bracket, power supply and cables. Some illuminator kits include an adapter and bracket, while individually ordered illuminators have different contents.
The reader offers code-quality metrics for process monitoring. If the application requires formal barcode grading, specify the applicable standard, calibration requirements and report format so the verification method can be assessed separately from successful decoding.
MarvelTech supplies automatic identification equipment and provides implementation, maintenance and support services. For a Matrix 320 5MP project, the application review can establish the optical configuration, required accessories and integration scope.
Pricing depends on the selected reader variant, lens, lighting, mounting and connection components, together with any agreed installation or support work. Request current availability, lead time, delivery coverage and applicable warranty terms for the quoted configuration.
Send MarvelTech sample codes or marked parts, barcode dimensions and minimum element size, object dimensions, conveyor speed, minimum spacing, working-distance limits and required field of view. Include the host system and protocol, ambient conditions, installation location, quantity and photographs or drawings of the reading station so the proposed configuration can be assessed.
The Matrix 320 5MP suits conveyor identification, packing-bench scanning, pallet-label reading, tote checks and manufacturing traceability. Its resolution is useful when several codes share the reading area or small labels occupy part of a larger object. Each required code needs a clear view; labels on opposite faces may require additional readers. Order verification also requires comparison with expected data in the receiving system.
Choose the 5MP model when the required reading area and smallest barcode need more image detail. It provides 2560 × 1936 pixels at 25 frames/s, while the Datalogic Matrix 320 2MP provides 1920 × 1080 pixels at 60 frames/s and offers liquid-lens versions with electronic focus adjustment. Compare resolution, acquisition speed and focus requirements together; megapixel count alone does not establish suitability.
Select the C-Mount lens using mounting distance, required field of view and the smallest barcode element. A wider view covers more area but gives each element fewer pixels. The 5MP model uses manual focus; its distance sensor does not provide autofocus. For varying object heights, validate depth of field—the distance interval that remains readable—with the smallest codes at both extremes.
Choose illumination by testing the actual label, packaging and movement conditions. The 36-LED VHP and 72-LED UHP configurations offer different light output, with UHP providing more illumination for demanding exposure or distance requirements. Optional polarising covers can reduce glare but also reduce received light. Test mounting angle and exposure together, since higher light output alone does not resolve reflections.
Yes. Supported formats include Data Matrix, QR Code, GS1-128 and PDF417, with direct-marked Data Matrix and QR codes also supported. Direct part marking describes how a code is applied to a component, so material, surface finish and marking quality affect selection. For difficult component marks, compare the dedicated illumination options of the Datalogic Matrix 220 XAI DPM reader using representative parts.
PackTrack helps associate decoded codes with the corresponding moving objects when several items occupy the reading zone. It can support shorter package gaps where the tracking arrangement permits them. The minimum gap depends on object detection, conveyor movement, label positions and output timing. Validate the proposed spacing at production speed; the reader’s image acquisition rate does not directly specify packages processed per second.
Yes. Built-in Ethernet supports EtherNet/IP, PROFINET IO and Modbus TCP, alongside TCP/IP communication; serial interfaces and digital I/O provide additional integration routes. A warehouse or manufacturing system still needs a compatible receiving interface and agreed message format. Define trigger timing, expected code count, duplicate handling and no-read responses before commissioning so decoded data produces the intended control action.
Datalogic’s Windows-based DL.CODE software provides full configuration, while X-PRESS supports local setup and testing. Web monitoring and FTP image saving help investigate reading results. Automatic setup provides a starting configuration; commissioning should also check moving items, changing ambient light and difficult samples. Save the validated settings and define which images should be retained for diagnosing intermittent failures.
Suitability depends on the reader variant and completed assembly. IP65 and IP67 protection requires the specified covers, seals and correctly connected cables. Datalogic lists −10 to +50 °C for the standard reader, with a 0 to +50 °C exception for X model 938100072. Confirm the quoted part number for cold-area use and assess condensation and heat dissipation separately from ingress protection.
A reader-body order needs a defined optical, lighting and connection configuration. Specify the C-Mount lens, illuminator or external lighting, adapter, protective covers, mounting bracket, cables and suitable 24 V DC supply. Check kit contents before ordering separately. Allow space for cable bends and lens adjustment, and size the power supply for the selected illuminator’s peak demand.
The reader provides code-quality metrics for process monitoring, but successful decoding or a displayed quality value does not by itself establish formal verification. If customer acceptance requires barcode grading, specify the applicable standard, measurement conditions, calibration and reporting requirements. Assess the proposed verification method separately from the reader’s ability to identify a code on the production line.
