Loftware Cloud Essentials is cloud-based label design and printing software for product, barcode, packaging and shipping labels in manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. It combines shared label storage, controlled operator printing and Automation Essentials, with licences for 2–20 printers and local Windows components connecting supported printers to the cloud.
Cloud Essentials brings label templates, user access and printing applications into a shared environment. It suits teams that need operators to print from centrally maintained files, use changing product or batch data, and automate repeatable printing tasks. Earlier documentation may refer to the product as NiceLabel Cloud Essentials.
Control Center stores labels and related files, manages access and shows printers connected through Loftware desktop installations. Enable versioning to retain file revisions, track changes and restore earlier versions.
Essentials supports the built-in Label Production Approval Process. With authentication, workflow settings and operator permissions configured, designers submit documents for approval and print operators access the latest approved, published revision. Storing a file centrally does not itself approve it.
This approval process cannot be customised in Essentials, and other approval workflows are unavailable in this edition. Requirements for additional approval stages or a validated labelling environment need a separate edition assessment.
Web Designer creates and edits labels through Control Center in a browser. Desktop Designer is a Windows application with a wider range of label objects, functions and database connections. Labels created in Web Designer open in Desktop Designer; desktop labels containing unsupported features may be preview-only in Web Designer.
Connect fields such as product codes, batch numbers and quantities to label objects so operators can select records or enter permitted values without changing the template layout.
Browser access does not remove the local printing requirements. For the standard Essentials setup, install the printer driver and Desktop Designer on the computer connected to the printer, then connect Desktop Designer to Control Center.
Automation Essentials runs configured printing tasks in response to events such as a file arriving in a monitored folder. Automation Builder defines the trigger, data extraction and print actions; Automation Manager deploys the configuration; the Windows service runs it.
For a CSV file-drop workflow, map incoming fields to label variables and give the service account access to the source folder, label files and printer. Integration with an ERP or warehouse system requires a defined data format and tested configuration. Confirm the required triggers and connectors against the Essentials licence before specifying an integration.
| Requirement | Cloud Essentials deployment |
|---|---|
| Desktop operating systems | Windows 11; Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019 or 2016. Server Core and Nano Server are unsupported. |
| Minimum desktop resources | x86-compatible processor, 8 GB RAM, 20 GB available disk space, 1366 × 768 display and .NET Framework 4.7.2 or newer. |
| Recommended desktop resources | Quad-core processor, 16 GB RAM, 40 GB available SSD storage and 1920 × 1080 display for more demanding printing. |
| Cloud access | Current Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Safari; JavaScript enabled; authorised sign-in and outbound internet access to the required Loftware services. |
| Printer connection | Supported printer and driver, connected locally or over the network to the relevant Windows workstation. |
Minimum resources apply to simple solutions with no other applications running. Size production workstations for label complexity, print frequency and concurrent tasks. Web Designer can be accessed from other operating systems, but Desktop Designer, Print, Automation and Web Client require Windows.
Check the exact printer model, driver, resolution and media settings before deployment. When specifying new label printers, match print width and media handling to the label, then test output through the selected software workflow.
Cloud Essentials uses a subscription with 2–20 printer seats. A seat is a printer usage allowance, including physical printers and virtual printers such as PDF or XPS devices when used through a supported printing method.
Count the printers used across the licensing window, not just those printing simultaneously. Unreserved printers leave the usage list after seven days without use; reserved printers retain their seats. Using different local ports for the same device can also consume additional seats.
Specify designers, print operators, external partners and each printing location alongside the printer count so access entitlements and deployment coverage can be confirmed in the quotation.
Essentials supports workflows where the label layout stays consistent while product, stock or shipment data changes.
A packing operation uses three network printers and exports a CSV file containing the product code, batch number and label quantity. A configured Automation file trigger reads the file, assigns its values to the relevant template and sends the print job to the selected printer.
Before production use, test missing fields, long product names, duplicate source files and printer interruptions. Confirm barcode readability on the actual label stock and define who handles rejected data or reprints.
Loftware Cloud Designer is the nearest alternative for teams whose requirements centre on label design, shared storage and on-demand printing. Essentials adds production automation and centrally distributed printing applications.
| Capability | Cloud Designer | Cloud Essentials |
|---|---|---|
| Printer-seat range | 1–10 | 2–20 |
| Web Designer, Desktop Designer and Loftware Print | Included | Included |
| Automation | Available during an optional trial; continued use requires an upgrade. | Automation Essentials included. |
| Web Printing with installed Web Client | Not included. | Included for assigned printing applications. |
Choose Essentials when automation or guided operator applications justify the additional capability, even with a small printer fleet. Requirements beyond 20 printers, the fixed approval process or the included integration functions warrant assessment of a higher Loftware Cloud edition.
Cloud Print Form supports one database connection, up to 5,000 database records and up to 1,000 labels per print operation. These are limits of that printing interface, not the whole Essentials licence. Larger batches and solution files need an appropriate desktop printing workflow.
These connections require user authentication. Loftware documents that direct printing from these authenticated data sources through Automation is unsupported. For unattended production, assess a supported file export or database connection instead.
Loftware updates the hosted cloud environment. Locally installed applications do not update automatically with it, so desktop updates should be scheduled and tested against existing labels, data connections and printers.
MarvelTech can review label workflows, printer models, user roles and automation requirements to recommend a configuration. The quotation should distinguish the software subscription from any agreed template conversion, installation, integration, training and support work.
Request confirmation of the subscription term, renewal conditions, user and site coverage, evaluation edition and trial duration, support arrangements and activation schedule before ordering.
Send MarvelTech your printer models and quantities, design and print user counts, locations, sample labels, label dimensions, barcode requirements, data sources and expected peak print volume. Include any partner access, approval or automation requirements to request a Loftware Cloud Essentials recommendation and quote.
Loftware Cloud Essentials suits product, batch, carton, inventory and dispatch labelling where teams share templates and print changing operational data. Its value increases when operators need controlled printing applications or repeatable tasks need automation. Assess suitability against your data sources, approval requirements and printing process, rather than company size alone.
Choose Essentials when you need included Automation functionality, centrally distributed printing applications or the built-in label approval process. Loftware Cloud Designer suits shared label design and operator-led printing; its optional Automation trial does not provide ongoing Automation entitlement. The deciding factor is the required workflow, even when only a few printers are involved.
Cloud Essentials is available with 2–20 printer seats. Size the subscription for printers used across the seven-day licensing window, including virtual printers used through supported printing methods. Unreserved printers release their seats after seven days without use; reserved printers retain seats while idle. A seat therefore covers printer usage rather than only simultaneous printing, and different local connections to one device can consume additional seats.
Yes. The documented Essentials setup uses printer drivers and Desktop Designer on a Windows computer connected to Control Center. Web Designer provides browser-based label editing, but the standard printing route still depends on a connected local installation. Plan workstation availability, supported Windows versions and outbound network access before selecting the setup for a production station.
Existing printers can be used where a suitable driver and connection are supported. Check the exact model, resolution, printable width and media settings, then test representative labels through the intended printing workflow. If replacement hardware is needed, compare barcode and label printers against label size, output volume and material requirements. Software compatibility alone does not establish printed barcode quality.
Browser editing depends on the features used in the label. Web Designer supports fewer objects, functions and database options than Desktop Designer, so unsupported desktop labels may be preview-only and require the Windows application for editing. Labels created in Web Designer can open in Desktop Designer. Check representative existing templates before committing to browser-only design work.
Yes. Web Designer connects to Excel or Access files stored in Control Center and to an accessible external Microsoft SQL database, with one table in one database per label. Desktop Designer offers broader connection options, including text files and ODBC. Choose the design and printing method around where the data resides, how it is updated and which accounts can access it.
Yes, where the system can supply data through a method supported by the included Automation functions. A configured file trigger can process an exported file, map its fields to label variables and start printing. The integration still needs agreed data formats, access permissions and error handling. Confirm required triggers and connectors against the Essentials entitlement, and test missing data, duplicate submissions and reprints before production use.
Yes. Loftware documents one built-in Label Production Approval Process for Essentials. With authentication, workflow settings and permissions configured, authors submit revisions for approval and print operators access the latest approved, published version. Essentials cannot customise this workflow or use other workflows. Requirements for additional approval stages or a validated labelling environment need assessment against another edition.
Yes. Web Printing distributes assigned printing applications to internal teams and third-party logistics partners, who run them through the installed Windows Web Client. Define which labels, data sources and printers each partner should access. Confirm user, location and printer-seat coverage, then test the application from the partner’s actual workstation and network before rollout.
Cloud Print Form supports one database connection, a database containing up to 5,000 records and up to 1,000 labels per print operation. These limits apply to that browser printing interface. Larger batches and solution files require assessment through an appropriate desktop printing method. Include your largest expected batch and most complex label when testing the proposed workflow.
Send printer models and quantities, user roles, locations, sample labels, data sources and peak printing requirements through the Loftware Cloud Essentials enquiry form. Describe automatic print triggers, partner access and approval needs. Request a quotation that identifies the subscription term, renewal conditions and printer seats, with any template conversion, installation, integration, training and support work scoped separately.
