Barcode printers can be offered with thermal direct and thermal transfer printing technologies.
Thermal direct printing uses chemically coated paper that changes colour when heat is applied to it with the print head. This prints the information on the label in black.
Thermal transfer printing technology does not rely on a chemical reaction on the paper, but uses a thermal transfer ribbon with resin or wax material that transfers the ink to the label by applying heat from the print head, it is possible to print in one color – red, green, blue, black, etc. This printing is much more resistant over time and is not affected by weather conditions over time.
